The Pakistan Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO), in partnership with HBL Microfinance Bank (HBL MfB), has launched Pakistan’s first climate-smart agricultural finance initiative powered by satellite data intelligence. The collaboration integrates satellite-based crop monitoring and remote-sensing analytics into agri-credit decision-making, enabling more accurate assessment of land use, crop health, and vegetation stress. By combining SUPARCO’s geospatial intelligence with HBL MfB’s extensive on-ground outreach, the initiative strengthens climate risk management, improves the speed and reliability of agricultural financing, and supports farmer productivity, climate resilience, and national food security through a scalable, technology-driven financing model.
